Tamil Nadu NMMS 2024: Registration Deadline Extended Till December 27
The Tamil Nadu NMMS 2024 examination is scheduled to be conducted on February 3, 2024. Students who qualify will be awarded a scholarship of Rs 12,000 per annum

The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu, has extended the deadline to submit the applications for the Tamil Nadu National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMS). Candidates willing to apply for the Tamil Nadu NMMS 2023–24 can visit the official website of the Directorate of Government Examinations at www.dge.tn.gov.in. It is advisable for the candidates to apply for the scholarship scheme before the last date set by the organisation, which is December 27 by paying a registration fee of Rs 50 with the application.

The Tamil Nadu NMMS Scholarship 2023 is set to take place for students in Class 8 studying in government and government-aided schools in Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu NMMS 2024 examination is scheduled to be conducted on February 3, 2024.

National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMS) is a scheme by the union government under which 1 lakh scholarships are awarded to selected students every year from Class 9. The government also continues this scholarship in Classes 10 to 12 if students meet the prescribed eligibility criteria.

Students who qualify in the Tamil Nadu NMMS 2023 exam will be awarded a scholarship of Rs 12,000 per annum. Students who wish to appear in the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship exam must be enrolled in a state government, government-aided, or local body school. In addition to that, the students must have a household income of less than Rs 3,50,000 to be eligible for the scholarship.

“The final list of students’ verified at all concerned levels on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), will be considered for sanction of funds. The scholarships for those students will be discontinued if they would have not been able to renew their application on NSP within stipulated time period,” read the official notification

Tamil Nadu NMMS 2024: Exam Pattern

Talking about the Tamil Nadu NMMS 2024 exam pattern, the NMMS exam question paper will be based on class 7 and 8 syllabi. It will consist of two exams: a Mental Ability Test (MAT) and a Scholastic Abilities Test (SAT). Each exam comprises 90 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Candidates will be given a 90-minute period to complete each paper.

Meanwhile, the mental ability test will test the student’s verbal and non-verbal metacognitive skills, such as reasoning and critical thinking. The Scholastic Abilities Test (SAT), on the other hand, will assess candidates’ proficiency in math, science, and social studies.
