The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced the preliminary exam schedule for the medical entrance examinations to be held in 2024. According to the NBEMS provisional timetable previously released, the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 test has been slated for March 3. However, the National Medical Commission’s (NMC) recommendations state that NEET PG would be held in the final week of June or in the first week of July. Counselling, on the other hand, is anticipated to begin in the first week of August. However, the board has yet to declare the officially confirmed dates for the NEET PG 2024. Candidates can obtain more information on the PG entrance exam by visiting nbe.edu.in or natboard.edu.in.
Based on previous year trends, the details regarding registration and timetable for NEET PG 2024 are scheduled to be issued this week. In 2023, the NBE released the NEET PG information bulletin on January 7, and registration commenced on January 27 for admission to 26,168 Doctor of Medicine (MD), 13,649 Master of Surgery (MS), and 922 PG Diploma programmes at 6,102 government, private, deemed/central institutions.
According to reports, the National Exit Test (NExT) will not be held this year. Under the NMC Act of 2019, NEET PG, a qualifying cum ranking test, is the only entrance exam required for admission to MD, MS, and Postgraduate Diploma programmes.Applicants may register for NEET PG if they have earned their MBBS degree or provisional pass certificate from an accredited medical school in India. The candidates should have fulfilled their 12-month rotational internship requirement and hold a valid registration certificate, either temporary or permanent, from the Medical Council of India (MCI) or the State Medical Council (SMC).
In the meantime, the “Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023” (PGMER-23) were recently released by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Under the guidelines, students will now be permitted to take 20 days of paid vacation and will be given residential accommodations.
