Watch: Yashasvi Jaiswal Hits James Anderson for Hat-trick of Sixes in Rajkot
Yashasvi Jaiswal milked James Anderson for 21 run in an over with 18 of them scored in sixes.

India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal peeled off a second successive double-century as he shredded England’s bowling attack on the fourth day of the ongoing third Test in Rajkot. Jaiswal rewrote records during a breathtaking innings of 214 not out that helped India declare at 430/4 and thus setting a mammoth target of 557.

Jaiswal’s became the first player in the history of Test cricket to hit over 20 sixes in a single series and drew level for the record of most sixes hit in an innings with the legendary Wasim Akram.

Jaiswal hit 14 fours and 12 sixes during his 236-ball innings at the Niranjan Shah Stadium.

Three of these sixes came in successive deliveries of England veteran James Anderson, the most prolific fast bowler in Test history.

In the 85th over of the India innings, the 22-year-old swept a low full toss over deep square leg, slammed one over extra covers and then launched the third over Anderson’s head for three sixes in a row.

The 41-year-old ended up conceding 21 runs in that over, all to Jaiswal.

This is the second successive double-century for Jaiswal who is now the second Indian batter in history to do so in a Test series after Virat Kohli.

He’s the third Indian batter after Vinoo Mankad and Kohli to score two double-centuries in a Test series.

Jaiswal was retired out after hurting his back on Day 3 but returned to resume his innings on Saturday morning following the dismissal of Shubman Gill, who was run out on 91.

Kuldeep Yadav, the nightwatchman, departed after having done his job, scoring 29 off 91. Jaiswal was then joined by Sarfaraz Khan and the pair began bossing over the English bowlers.

They stitched an unbroken stand of 172 runs for the fifth wicket to drive India’s innings. Sarfaraz struck another half-century and remained unbeaten on 68 off 72 with the help of six fours and three sixes.
