'Sanju Knows The State of the Game': Ryan Ten Doeschate Lauds Sanju Samson's Unselfish Play for India
ten Doeschate praised Samson's sense of urgency with the ball, something that falls right in line with India's plan to play aggressive, and praised the opener for his unselfish contributions.

It’s not been easy pickings for Sanju Samson, who has failed to fire on all cylinders across the last couple of outings against Bangladesh. But India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate highlighted the value he’s brought to the team and praised the wicketkeeper-batter for his unselfish performances so far.

Samson was sent back to the dressing room for a seven-ball 10, which had two boundaries.

In the first T20I as well, Samson started off well, but failed to convert on his strong start, falling victim to Mehidy Hasan Miraz as he was dismissed for 29 runs.

The Keralite’s inconsistent form drew much negative attention from fans all over on social media.

But ten Doeschate took to the press ahead of India’s final T20I vs Bangladesh, highlighting how Samson’s game has been complimenting the ‘all-out’ nature of cricket that India aim to play.

“100%, I think it’s showing in the way played (the aggressive all-out nature). You know, the Test match in Kanpur is a great example. We’re trying to push the limits of of what we can do as a team,” ten Doeschate stated in his pre-match presser.

“They’ve obviously got the quality to do it. Then it’s about giving the players the belief to do it in the safe space to know that if it’s not going to go right, it’s also okay.”

ten Doeschate then praised Samson’s sense of urgency, that falls right in line with India’s plan to play aggressive, and praised the opener for his unselfish contributions.

“Even if you look back at the first two games, someone like Sanju, you know, getting a quick start in the first game in Gwalior. It would have been easy for him to knock it around and just get a fifty. But you can see he’s trying to push for the boundary. He knows the state of the game and the messaging has been pretty consistent with that.”

“We want guys to expand their own games. We want to move cricket forward like it’s going with the times and we want to be prepared for the big crunch moments that are coming up in the next 18 months.”

India will face off against Bangladesh in the final and third T20I tomorrow on Saturday, as they aim to clinch another whitewash against the visitors.
