Mehidy Hasan Miraz Returns After 14 Months as BCB Announce Bangladesh's 15-man Squad for India T20Is
Among the notable names in the 15-man squad includes that of Mehidy Hasan Miraz who has made his way back into the T20I side, 14 months since his previous appearance in the shortest format.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have announced the squad that will go up against India in the three-match T20I series that is set to begin on October 6, on Sunday.

Among the notable names in the 15-man squad includes that of Mehidy Hasan Miraz who has made his way back into the T20I side, 14 months since his previous appearance in the shortest format.

Miraz has been a reliable player for the national side in the 50-over and Test setup which has now pushed himself to being picked for the shortest format as well.

The upcoming T20I series will also be a significant period in Bangladesh cricket as it will be the first time the team will be without the services of the veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who announced his retirement from the format before the second Test against India in Kanpur. Miraz would likely be expected to fill the shoes of Shakib and hope he can match the legacy of the Bangladeshi great.

The three T20Is between Bangladesh and India will be played at Gwalior, New Delhi, and Hyderabad on October 6, 9, and 12 respectively. The T20I series opener will be the first time Gwalior’s Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium hosts an international game.

It will also mark the return of Gwalior as an international cricket hosting venue since the India-South Africa game in 2010, where the legendary Sachin Tendulkar became the first male cricketer to hit a double century in ODIs.

The previous instance where Bangladesh visited India for T20Is was back in 2019 when they suffered a 1-2 series defeat. Their last meeting took place in the 2024 T20 World Cup where Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten fifty while Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball taking 3 wickets as India secured the win by 50 runs.

Bangladesh Squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Tawhid Hridoy, Mahmud Ullah, Litton Kumer Das, Jaker Ali Anik, Mehidy Hassan Miraz, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rakibul Hasan.
