India Tour of Zimbabwe: Nitish Reddy Ruled Out After Maiden T20I Call-up, BCCI Names Replacement
The BCCI on Wednesday named Shivam Dube as the replacement, adding that Reddy is currently being monitored by the board’s medical team.

Days after receiving the maiden T20I call-up, uncapped all-rounder Nitish Reddy has been ruled out of the Zimbabwe tour due to an injury. The BCCI on Wednesday named Shivam Dube as the replacement, adding that Reddy is currently being monitored by the cricket board’s medical team.

“The Men’s Selection Committee named Shivam Dube as a replacement for the injured Nitish Reddy in India’s squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe,” the BCCI statement read.

“The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring Nitish Reddy’s progress,” it added.

Reddy reaped the rewards of his stellar performance on his debut IPL season. Batting for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the lower middle order, he scored 303 runs from 11 innings at a strike-rate of 142.92 and two half-centuries. Nitish wasn’t needed as a bowler and he took three wickets from 13 matches having bowled 79 deliveries during the season.

Unfortunately, Reddy has to wait for his India debut due to an injury whose nature is yet to be known.

On the other hand, Dube is currently in the Caribbean, representing India in the ongoing T20 World Cup. He is now the third player, after Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal, from the 15-man squad to be named for the Zimbabwe tour.

Shubman Gill will lead the team on the tour and will be joined by Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan. All four of them were named as the travelling reserves for the T20 World Cup.

Updated squad:

Ꮪhubman Gill (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Tushar Deshpande, Shivam Dube.
