The Indian cricket team will reportedly play one warm-up match ahead of their first match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. England and Pakistan will be the other two teams besides India which are reportedly going to play one practice match each with rest of the participants set to get two warmup matches.
England and Pakistan will be entering the tournament after playing each other in a bilateral series that ends on May 30 meaning there isn’t much time for them to squeeze in two practice games. The T20 World Cup will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies.
On the other hand, as per a report in Cricbuzz, the Indian cricket team was offered to warm-up matches by the organisers (ICC and Cricket West Indies) but in two separate cities – in New York and Florida.
With the IPL 2024 to conclude by May 26 and Indian players reportedly leaving for the USA in two batches, the BCCI wanted both the warmups in New York to avoid fatigue due to travel.
India will kickstart their world cup campaign on June 5 when they take on Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York. The former champions have been grouped alongside Pakistan, Ireland, USA and Canada.

India will play three of their four Group A matches in New York including the highly-anticipated clash with Pakistan on June 9. Their fourth fixture is slated to be held in Florida, against Canada on June 15.
Meanwhile, the ICC has reportedly tweaked playing conditions for the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup.
Along with co-host West Indies, the cricket’s governing body has decided to do away with the reserve day for the second semi-final and instead allotted an extra time of 250 minutes or 4 hours and 10 minutes to help reach a result in case of rain interruption.
As per the original schedule all three knockouts – two semifinals and final – had a reserve day each. However, to provide a break between the second semifinal and the title clash, the changes have been made.
The first semifinal will be played in Trinidad on June 26 with June 27 marked as reserve day. Whereas, the second semifinal is slated for June 27 at Providence Stadium in Guyana.
The summit clash will be played on June 29 in Guyana.
