IND vs AFG T20 World Cup Weather Forecast: Will rain interrupt India's first match of Super Eight stage against Pakistan on Thursday?

After capping off the T20 World Cup 2024 group-stage campaign with an unbeaten run, India are now all set to kickstart their Super Eight journey. In their first match of the Super Eight, they will take on Afghanistan on Thursday.

The match between India and Afghanistan will be played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. The Rohit Sharma-led side has so far been in fine form in the competition and qualified for the Super Eight as the table toppers from Group A.

Afghanistan have also been in impressive form, winning three of their four games.

Rain has already played spoilsport in the competition with some key fixtures being abandoned. The group-stage game between co-hosts USA and Ireland was washed out without even a ball being bowled due to rain. The washout resulted in Pakistan’s elimination from the T20 World Cup 2024.

IND vs AFG Weather forecast For June 20

The match between India and Afghanistan will start at 8:00 PM IST (10:30 AM local time). As per reports, the conditions in Barbados will most likely be cloudy and humid but as of now rain may not interrupt proceedings. There’s 15 per cent chance of precipitation.

IND vs AFG Pitch Talk

Apart from the weather, the nature of the pitches at the T20 World Cup have also made much noise. While many felt that the pitches have not been batting-friendly, it’s expected that the situation will be different at the Super Eight stage.

The pitches in New York particularly proved to be difficult for batters. India batter Suryakumar Yadav recently opened up on the issue.

“If have you been number one for two years, you should be able to bat in different conditions and change the game as per the needs of the team. That displays good batsmanship and that is what I try,” said Suryakumar during a media interaction.

“It’s difficult to generate that force when there’s no pace on the wicket and when someone has read your game nicely. So, at that time, you have to be very smart how you want to extend your innings,” he added.

Apart from Afghanistan, Team India will face Bangladesh and Australia at the Super Eight of the T20 World Cup 2024.
