India’s new head coach Gautam Gambhir is hopeful that he will have the services of the two senior pros – Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma – for the 2027 World Cup, if fitness permits.
Speaking at his first press conference as the India head coach, the former India opener said that both the players have a lot of cricket left in them. Kohli and Rohit retired from the T20I format after the victorious T20 World Cup campaign in the Caribbean in June.
Gautam Gambhir was asked about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in his first presser and he said, “They have shown what they can deliver on the big stage. Both have a lot of cricket left in them. The Champions Trophy, if they keep their fitness then even the 2027 World Cup. Looking at what they can deliver, they are still world-class and any team would want to have both of them.”
