The Pakistan cricket team had a disastrous start to their Test series against Bangladesh having lost the opening contest. The second match also did not turn out to be a comfortable one for Pakistan with Bangladesh expected to clinch a win and whitewash their opponents.
Amidst all this, two Pakistan cricketers have now hit the headlines but for all the wrong reasons. Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir was reportedly found disappointed with his compatriot Imad Wasim’s questionable fielding effort. The incident took place during a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) fixture between Antigua and Barbuda Falcons and Barbados Royals on September 1.
During the 13th over of the Barbados Royals’ innings, Mohammad Amir came up with a short-pitched delivery which Quinton De Kock guided towards the third-man region. Imad Wasim, who was located at the deep backward point position, ran to save the boundary.
But he was found jogging as the ball crossed the boundary rope. A report published by NDTV claimed that Amir was heard shouting at Imad to run. The event did not go down well with the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons team and Imad’s fielding position was immediately changed on the very next delivery.

Reacting to the incident, one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, “I am being told that Imad Wasim is suffering from a long-time knee injury which hinders him to dive for the ball and or score quick singles and yet he has not planned to go under a knife for a surgery to get better.”

“These were the same players who were sitting in TV shows only to criticise the current players. The true story is, they ain’t any different when given a chance to perform,” commented another user.

Another social media user observed, “So, we have an absolutely terrible half tracker which is hit and the fielder makes no attempt at all to field it before going for 4? Hmmm.”
