India great Kapil Dev has responded to Jasprit Bumrah’s post highlighting an advertisement from the past featuring the World Cup-winning skipper. Bumrah sent cricket fans on a nostalgic trip with his post on X.
The 30-year-old Indian speedster shared an advertisement poster of the legendary Kapil Dev from 1992. The post was accompanied by a light-hearted caption that explains the relationship shared by the two generational cricketers. The pacer wrote, “Look what I found, Kapil Dev paaji, aapke zamane mein aapke zamane ki ad [During your era, your era’s advertisement]”. Kapil Dev’s response read, “Haha. I don’t remember doing this. Kabhi ghar aa jao. Aaj ka zamana dikhata huun [Come to my house sometime, I’ll show you today’s era]”.

The said advertisement takes us back to the early 1990s in which Kapil Dev can be seen endorsing a then-modern cable service. The advertisement promises a vibrant colour broadcast of cricket on both English and Hindi commentary. The all-rounder was an active member of the Indian cricket team back then before playing his last game two years later in 1994. Kapil Dev’s last appearance in an Indian shirt came in Faridabad on October 17 when India were playing the West Indies. The all-rounding legend hung up his boots with an ICC ODI World Cup feather on his hat while also accumulating 9031 runs and 687 wickets for India.
Speaking of Jasprit Bumrah, the India pacer has proven to be instrumental in the previous games of India’s ongoing five-match Test series against England. Bumrah has scalped a total of 17 wickets in the first three Tests of the series with his best performance coming in the second match where the 30-year-old dismissed nine English batters.
For the fourth Test in Ranchi, Bumrah was released from the squad by BCCI to ease the cricketer’s workload. In their official statement, they wrote, “Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the squad for the 4th IDFC First Bank Test against England in Ranchi. The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and the amount of cricket he has played in recent times.”
Jasprit Bumrah will now be rejoining the Indian squad in the crucial fifth and final Test match of the series at Dharamsala. The Rohit Sharma-led side has already bagged the bilateral tour 3-1 and will be looking to sign off with a fourth victory. The match will be held at the HPCA Cricket Stadium, starting from March 7.
