Why Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj Decided To Turn Producer
The ace director recently announced the launch of his own production house, titled G Squad.

Lokesh Kanagaraj is without a doubt one of the top directors in Tamil cinema today. Having directed just five films thus far, he has already achieved a significant level of success with all his films being hits at the box office. And now Lokesh has added another feather to his cap by turning producer as well. The ace director recently announced the launch of his own production house, titled G Squad.

Additionally, he disclosed that Uriyadi star Vijay Kumar will play the lead in his debut production, Fight Club. The official teaser for the movie has been released by the makers. The one-minute and forty-seven-second teaser provided a general overview of the film’s content, including realistic and intense fighting. At the trailer launch of the movie, Lokesh Kanagaraj explained why he chose to set up G Squad, his own production house.

Lokesh said that he makes enough money from being a director and money was not the reason he turned producer. He said that when he was a newcomer, many of his friends in the industry helped and backed him, providing him motivation so that he could make his debut film Maanagaram. Lokesh now wants to give back to his friends and through his G Squad company, he will be producing and distributing films of his friends. He also said that the focus of his production house is more content-driven than money-driven.

He said that he wanted to direct Vijay Kumar and that has not happened as of yet and is hence happy to produce Fight Club with him in the lead. It appears that Fight Club is set in a small Tamil Nadu town, and it is mentioned that fights have long existed in the community. The movie also features a number of fight scenes that happened in different locations, and a romantic track is present as well.

Abbas A. Rahmat, making his directorial debut, directed Vijay Kumar in the starring role of Fight Club. In Uriyadi 1 and 2, Abbas also served as the lead actor’s assistant director. The director has also stated that his fight club will be a tribute to the 1999 Hollywood movie of the same name directed by David Fincher.
