Waqar Younis Cried in Commentary Box? Pakistan's Loss to Afghanistan Leaves Former Pacer Stunned
Pakistan Vs Afghanistan: Waqar Younis looked defeated as a stunning Afghanistan crushed Pakistan in one of the biggest upsets witnessed in ICC World Cup 2023 so far.

Former Pakistani pacer and cricket legend Waqar Younis who currently dons the commentator’s hat was at a loss of words while witnessing Afghanistan absolutely annihilating his team in a historic ICC World Cup 2023 encounter in Chennai on Monday.

Younis, who was sat in the commentary box, looked every bit defeated and more as Afghanistan scripted a famous win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The final moments of the exciting clash were caught on video and Younis’s expressions summed it all.

“And there it is. Momentous. Historic. The first time Afghanistan have won two matches in a World Cup. Absolutely fantastic. A controlled and skillful and dominant run chase against former champions Pakistan. They have doubled up on celebrations,” Mpumelelo Mbangwa seated alongside Matthew Hayden and Waqar Younis quipped.

Younis, stumped by the defeat, stared into the infinity.

Needing 283 to win, Afghanistan needed just four batters namely Ibrahim Zadran (87), Rahmat Shah (77 not out), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65) and skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi (48 not out) to reach their target with six balls and 8 wickets to spare.

Cricket legend Wasim Akram wasn’t as quiet as Younis as the lethal pacer from Pakistan tore apart Babar Azam’s team in a now-viral, piercing rant.

Speaking on A Sports, the ex-captain lost his cool as he pointed out fitness levels of players.

“It was embarrassing today. They [Afghanistan] chased 280-290 with 8 wickets in hands which is huge. They nullified the pitch factor completely. And just look at the fitness levels of our players,” Akram said.

“We have been screaming here for the past three weeks that they haven’t been through fitness tests in the last two years. Now should I name them individually, their faces are getting broader. Lagta hai roz 8 kilo nihari khate hain (Seems like they have kilos of meats every day),” he added.
