Thirty-five years after they collaborated for the blockbuster gangster drama Nayakan, Tamil cinema’s ‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Haasan, who’s has been reaching 4 million homes as host of the reality show, Bigg Boss Tamil, and filmmaker Mani Ratnam, are all set to come together for a film.
The film is to be produced by Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, R. Mahendran and Siva Ananth under their respective banners, Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies.

Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, popular stars in Tamil cinema, have reunited after 35 years for their new film ‘Thug Life,’ as announced on November 6. The movie’s poster featuring Kamal Haasan in a unique look was shared on social media.
The makers also unveiled a video to announce the title, sparking anticipation and suggesting an intense cinematic journey. Promised to be a classic gangster drama, the teaser sets the perfect tone for this high-energy entertainer.
A day ahead of his birthday, Kamal Haasan dropped the first-look poster of the film with Mani Ratnam. Sharing the poster on social media, he wrote, “Embrace the EPIC REVEAL! Title announcement video at 5pm today! Stay tuned for an unforgettable experience! (sic).”
Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies will present the film and it is scheduled to be released in 2024. He had earlier said that it’s an honour to present this film. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to join Kamal Sir in presenting ‘Ulaganayagan KH 234’ after the great success of ‘Vikram’ and the much-awaited ‘Indian 2’. An absolute honour to present this film and tell this special story.”
He added, “Kamal sir and Mani sir have been the pride of Tamil cinema globally and I have been an ardent admirer of both these iconic personalities. Thank you Kamal sir for this great opportunity.”
On the other hand, the Kamal Haasan starrer Indian 2 is finally gaining traction too. S Shankar is directing the sequel to the 1996 Indian. The film is presently in its last phase. That apart, all of the Kamal Haasan-related scenes have been filmed. Amid this news, the makers introduced Kamal Haasan as Hindustani 2 with a powerful intro.
