Apart from composing music for films, he is often spotted holding live concerts for the public. He has performed in different parts of the world. After a long gap, the musical maestro was back in India with a concert.

Recently, AR Rahman performed at a concert titled Marakuma Nenjam at Adityaram Palace in Paniyur, Chennai. According to reports, the concert caused a lot of traffic on the road as many people came to attend it. It was reported that the concert was overcrowded, causing a lot of disruption in the city. Now, there have been reports that DGP Shankar Jiwal has ordered a probe to identify the reasons behind the disturbance.

According to reports, DGP Shankar Jiwal has ordered Tambaram Police Commissioner Amalraj to investigate the disruption caused by the concert in the city. Commissioner Amalraj, who went to the concert venue, revealed that a proper investigation is currently underway. He added that the organisers got permission for 25,000 people, but around 45,000–50,000 people showed up.

Despite the colour coding and categories, it became impossible for people to enter the venue due to overcrowding in the area. Many people were unable to enjoy the concert despite buying tickets. The concert was organised by a private company, which promised the audience an unforgettable musical evening with AR Rahman. They sold tickets in different categories including silver, gold, platinum, and diamond, with prices ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 27,000.

The overcrowding caused immense traffic, which disrupted the city roads. Heavy congestion caused a lot of problems for the people using the route. Chennai Traffic Police had already informed the public that there would be heavy traffic near the venue and advised them to make prior travel arrangements.

Reportedly, the security vehicle of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin was also stuck in heavy traffic, causing a delay in his arrival at Mahabalipuram.
