Mumbai: The markets continued to trade in the red as selling pressure remained in metal, FMCG, capital goods, technology and banking stocks. At 14:11 hours IST, the Sensex was down 86 points at 12,279 and the Nifty down 32 points at 3,537.
The BSE Small Cap and Midcap fell over 0.20 per cent each. The market breadth was negative, about 1,014 shares advanced, 1319 shares declined, and 75 shares remained unchanged.
Top losers were TCS (-2.51 per cent), HDFC (-2.39 per cent), BHEL (-2.08 per cent), NTPC (-1.80 per cent), Zee (-2.44 per cent) and Siemens (-2.42 per cent).
On the other hand, Reliance Energy (0.99 per cent), Tata Motors (0.93 per cent), Cipla (0.33 per cent), HPCL (2.41 per cent) and BPCL (1.34 per cent) were biggest gainers on the bourses.
The BSE Metal and FMCG indices were down nearly one per cent. The BSE Capital Goods and IT indices fell 0.80 per cent and 0.70 per cent, respectively. The BSE Bankex also slipped nearly 0.40 per cent.
