Bank Holidays in July: Banks to Remain Shut for 9 Days in Last 15 Days of This Month
Bank Holidays in July 2021: There are 9 days of leave left for lenders across the nation for this month. Six days will be religious and state-wise holidays.

In the event that you have some bank-related business to attend to in the coming days of this month, check your calendar. Last month the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issues a list of holidays that would be applicable from July 1, onwards. So, before planning your next visit to the bank, you need to know on what days public and private sector lenders in various parts of the country will be closed. There are seven bank holidays remaining this month as per the list released by RBI. Aside from the usual weekends off, these lenders will be shut for 6 days that fall under religious festival holidays and state-based holidays. The banks will be closed for a total of 9 days this month (weekends included). These bank holidays do not take place for all states on the same days.

The Reserve Bank of India has issued a notification of leave for lenders under three brackets — the ‘Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act’, ‘Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday’ and ‘Banks’ Closing of Accounts’. These current set of holidays in the month of July, fall under the ‘Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act’ bracket. All banks including the public sector, private sector, foreign banks, cooperative banks and regional banks across the country will remain closed on these notified holidays, depending on the region and date. The bank holidays vary from one state to another and are spread apart. Therefore, the vast majority do not take place on the same days.

Apart from the list for just this month, overall the banks stay closed consistently throughout the year on Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), Christmas Day (December 25). Banks also remain shut on festivals including Diwali, Christmas, Eid, Guru Nanak Jayanthi, Good Friday.
