Late Night Drive Takes A Scary Turn As Cement Block Lands On Car In Bengaluru

Late night drives often promise freedom on the roads, yet safety can’t always be guaranteed, especially in certain remote parts of India. Recently, an alleged robbery attempt happened with a Bengaluru resident. An X user named, Aashish Bansal shared a harrowing experience and claimed a cement block was thrown at his car at around 2:30 AM. While commuting home on NICE Road, linking Bannerghatta Road and Hosur Road, Bansal was accompanied by a friend, when they came across this frightening incident. Seated in the passenger seat, Bansal claimed he and his friend sustained minor injury as the cement block did not directly collide with the glass.

He further explained, “We did not stop the car as the usual MO in such cases is to rob the occupants of the vehicle the moment they stop to take a view of what has happened. I also noticed a cement block on the road a fraction of a second before we were hit – it points to the same MO being applied to some other vehicle before we were targeted.”

“The impact was dulled by the wiper blades. If the wiper blades had not taken the impact directly, the block would have hit me sitting in the front passenger seat easily, the windshield had a gaping hole towards the bottom. I have traversed this road numerous times since it became functional and had never faced this threat ever,” Aashish Bansal recalled.

The Bengaluru resident tagged Bengaluru Police Commissioner, B Dayananda and urged for improved surveillance in the unlit bridges overlooking the highway, which can prevent similar incidents in the future. While Bansal revealed he just had minor injuries, the cement block damaged windshield and dashboard of the car.

Residents and social media users were in shock by the incident shared by Aashish Bansal, which also grabbed the attention of Tejasvi Surya, the Member of Parliament representing Bengaluru South constituency under BJP. Expressing shock at the experience, Surya hoped for Bansal’s quick recovery. Sharing a similar incident about his friend, he urged the commissioner to establish patrolling teams in such danger zones to avert potential risks for commuters traveling these areas during late hours.

Earlier this month, another alarming incident surfaced when an X user Srijan R Shetty recounted a robbery attempt in Sarjapur. On November 8, some unknown men followed Srijan’s wife’s car for several distances in a secluded area and asked them to exit the vehicle. Fortunately, quick action was taken as Srijan’s wife alerted the authorities, preventing the situation from escalating further.
