Volkswagen T-Roc Premium SUV Launched In India Again With Price Hike, Now Priced at Rs 21.35 Lakh
Selected Volkswagen dealerships have commenced bookings for the T-Roc Premium SUV at a token amount of Rs 50,000

Volkswagen launched their premium SUV crossover T-Roc last year in India through the CBU (completely built unit) route. The single, fully-loaded variant was priced at Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The first batch of 1000 units was booked and sold within the first few days. The next batch of the model will soon arrive in India and with a hike in its prices. The German automaker is set to restock the T-ROC at Rs 21.35 lakh (ex-showroom). This batch of the crossover, set to reach showrooms soon, commands a premium of Rs 1.36 lakh over the introductory pricing.

As per the VW India official website, these are initial prices and a hike is likely in future too. The new peg might bring a substantial pinch to the pocket but the model can be expected to flaunt a few new features. Selected dealerships have commenced bookings for the crossover at a token amount of Rs 50,000. The 2021 T-ROC was expected to reach showrooms by April.

Going by the latest homologation rules for fully imported units, an automaker brand could bring in not more than 25,000 units of a CBU car in one year. Since the T-ROC has been well-accepted by the Indian market, the SUV could be locally assembled through CKD at a later stage. This would also imply deduction in prices. As of now, it is in the evaluation stages and whether VW imports 1,000 units like the first batch remains to be seen.

According to reports, styling-wise, the 2021 VW T-ROC is not expected to make many changes either on the interior or exterior. Given the price hike, a few additional features might be in the offering.

It is equipped with a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Coming to its powertrain setup, it will continue to derive power from the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI turbo petrol engine which generates 148 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent exclusively to front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. 2021 T-Roc competes against the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass, and Skoda Karoq.
