Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate India’s first Vande Bharat Metro on September 16. This new train will operate between Ahmedabad and Bhuj in Gujarat. The train will be almost like the metro trains running in cities like Delhi, Mumbai but will cover long distances. It will cover the 334 km journey in just 5 hours and 45 minutes.

The Vande Bharat Metro train will depart from Bhuj at 5:50 am and arrive in Ahmedabad at 10:50 am. For the return trip, it will leave Ahmedabad at 5:30 pm and reach Bhuj at 11:10 pm. The train will operate six days a week and the service will include nine stations on the Bhuj-Ahmedabad route. The Indian Railways said that the train will make brief two-minute stops at each station.

The Vande Bharat Metro is a semi-high-speed train. It will operate at speed between 100 and 250 kilometers per hour. The train features 3 x 3 bench-type seating to accommodate a maximum number of passengers comfortably. Additionally, wheelchair-accessible toilets have been installed in the coaches for physically challenged passengers.

The Vande Bharat Metro is equipped with a talk-back system, allowing passengers to directly communicate with the train driver in case of emergency. Each coach features a sensor system with a total of 14 sensors to detect fire and smoke. This will ensure immediate detection of any hazard.

Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh, recently visited the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala. During his visit, he inaugurated the production of the Amrit Bharat coach and inspected the manufacturing process of the Vande Metro coach.

The Vande Bharat Metro train currently operates with 12 coaches. An additional set of four coaches has been designed for passenger convenience. The Railways plans to increase the number of coaches to 16.
