Renault seems to have a thing or two for compact vehicles with the French manufacturer showcasing crossovers from the small creed every alternate week. This time its the Renault Scenic. Wait a minute! Wasn't the Scenic an MPV? Yes, but Renault has now modified it to look like a compact crossover and christened it the Scenic XMOD.
Sporting new crossover clothes, the compact MPV gets Renault's new design identity with petal shaped headlamps surrounded by daytime running LEDs. The front and rear bumpers are also new, with chrome finish roof bars standard across the range.
For the interiors, Renault has rearranged the multi-directional joystick control and rotary control of traction system within easy reach of the driver. The top of the line XMOD has aluminium capped pedals, gear lever knobs and flat-bottomed steering wheel. Upholstery is all new with stitched leather/Alcantara and there is also the Bose music system.
Renault says that the boot of the XMOD can take up to 555 litres of luggage and there is 71 litres available around the cabin. Renault has equipped the XMOD with an advanced Grip Xtend traction control system. It gives the driver the option of selecting three modes for driving - mud, sand and fresh snow. There are three powertrains on offer with the TCe 130 now offering start/stop as standard, with a 15 per cent improvement in fuel economy than before.
The Renault Scenic XMOD and the updated Grand Scenic will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show 2013 on March 5.
