‘You're Simply An Embarrassment Son…’ The Rock’s Dig At NBA Star Ja Morant On SmackDown
The Rock mocked Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in sing during WWE Smackdown's latest episode at Memphis. The 51-year-old went on to take a dig at NBA side Memphis Grizzlies' player Morant, before cushioning the blow with a message of affection for the basketball star.

Ja Morant’s run-in with NBA officials for flashing his gun more often than his plays on the basketball court has garnered media attention over the past several months. Morant is still unable to catch a break, after having served out his 25-game punishment for flashing a gun in May last year for six months. The horrors of his gun-flashing shenanigans are still haunting him, and the latest reminder of his activities came in the form of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who took a hilarious swipe at the 24-year-old while singing a song.

The Rock began his appearance on WWE SmackDown at FedExForum on Friday night by discussing his fondness for Memphis. At the WMC-TV Channel 5 wrestling studio, he began his professional wrestling career. Rocky Johnson, his father, was a Memphis-based wrestler as well.

Then The Rock started singing, primarily criticizing Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, with whom he is still at odds as part of a WWE storyline leading up to WrestleMania 40. He did, however, add one more point concerning Memphis. “You’re simply an embarrassment, son,” he sang about Rollins. “Just like Ja Morant when he’s waving a gun.”

The crowd booed when a picture of Ja Morant came on the big screen, even though The Rock took a moment to say, “I love you, Ja. We love you, brother. Get well soon!”

It is assumed that The Rock is merely attempting to egg the spectators on in Memphis and is does not harbour any animosity toward Ja Morant; rather, he is currently portraying himself as a heel (antagonist) in the current WWE storyline. A small “I love you Ja” was even added at the end, breaking his character.

Morant and the NBA had their first run-in with guns in March 2023. Morant had to miss eight games as a result, and he willingly travelled to Florida for therapy.

“G12” spoke with Adam Silver and expressed his remorse, at which point he pledged to walk chastely. Two months later, he went back to his pursuits. Silver declared in June 2023 that Morant would miss 25 games due to the probe. At the start of the 2023–24 NBA season, he completed his sentence.
