‘Could Have Been in Wrestlemania, Against The Undertaker:’ WWE Superstar Makes A Huge Revelation
While a high-profile match between Rob Van Dam and The Undertaker might have been in discussion, it was eventually scrapped.

WWE superstar Rob Van Dam has revealed that he could have faced The Undertaker at WrestleMania early in his career. A household name in the WWE, Rob Van Dam won several championships with the company during the early 1990s and 2000s. Nearly, three decades later RVD was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2020.

The high-flyer recently spoke on his ‘1 Of A Kind’ podcast that a match between him and The Undertaker was discussed for The Show of Shows in the past. “I was told at one point when I was first there in WWE getting one of those first momentum rides. There’s a story that they were thinking of putting me in WrestleMania, maybe it was against The Undertaker, I’m not sure,” he said as per TJR Wrestling.

While a high-profile match between Rob Van Dam and The Undertaker might have been in discussion, it was eventually scrapped. Certain individuals felt that RVD was not ‘over enough’ at the time to take on The Phenom at The Show of Shows. “It sounded like a main event spot or at least a really high on the card spot, and said party said, ‘No he’s not over enough,’” the ex-wrestler concluded.

Disappointed with the decision, Rob Van Dam still accepted the conclusion recognising the importance of logical reasoning in such high-stakes situations. RVD eventually ended his WWE career without ever facing The Undertaker at a WrestleMania event. He did enjoy a memorable feud with the Deadman for Hardcore Championship in the early 2000s.

While The Undertaker is mostly recognised for his unbelievable 25-2 record at WrestleMania, Rob Van Dam still boasts a perfect streak of 4-0 at the Show of Shows. Undertaker put up a dominant run at the premium live event, winning 21 times without being defeated. However, that streak was put to an end in WrestleMania 2014 by Brock Lesnar. Whereas, RVD never lost a match at the event.

As for Rob Van Dam, the former WWE superstar acquired some notable championships in his career including the WWE Intercontinental title which he won from William Regal in 2002. He also emerged triumphant at the Money in the Bank ladder match four years later in 2006.
