'They Turned Biden Orange, He's Slurring': Social Media Discusses US President's Address Amid Health Concerns
This address comes after Biden's candidacy faced a crisis of confidence from Democrats after his abysmal debate against Trump nearly a month ago

Joe Biden on Wednesday visibly struggled to pronounce words while reading from a teleprompter in the Oval Office, raising renewed concerns about his health as the US President asserted that he had to “save democracy” by allowing Vice President Kamala Harris to run for White House.

“Those who cherish that cause, cherish it so much. A cause of American democracy itself. We must unite to protect it,” Biden said, stressing, “Nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy.” Social media users on X, however, pointed out that an ‘orange’ looking Biden struggled to pronounce his words while reading from a teleprompter in the Oval Office.

Slamming the US President, Collin Rugg, a popular Conservative voice on X said, “Biden said he had to ‘save democracy’ by letting his own party stage a coup on him.” “Those who cherry that cause, cherish it so much. A cause of Americademocritcy itself. We must unite to protect it. Nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy,” Rugg quoted Biden as saying during the speech.

One of the users said, “He (Biden) is once again reading his lines and I still believe he has no idea what’s going on but doing what he is told. “The democrat party committed a coup against the American people. Your votes don’t matter folks,” claimed a Republican skeptic. Yet another critic said, “Biden sounds like someone had him tied up in a basement for 6 days and is now being forced to read a letter from his captors telling us that he’s ok.”

Biden tried to outlast the skepticism and quell the concerns with interviews and tepid rallies, but the pressure to step aside only mounted from the party’s political elites and from ordinary voters. On Sunday afternoon while isolating at his Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, home with COVID-19, Biden finally bowed in a letter posted to his account on X announcing his decision to leave the race, followed up later by an endorsement of Harris.

Shortly before the US President’s address, White House Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Wednesday said that any question of Biden resigning his office — which would allow Harris to run as an incumbent — was “ridiculous.” She said Biden has “no regrets” about his decision to stay in the race as long as he did, or his decision to quit it over the weekend. She said Biden’s decision had nothing to do with his health.
