Indian-origin Man, Part of Canada Hammer Gang, Arrested For Two Jewellery Robberies

Three people, including a 20-year-old Indian-origin man, were arrested for two jewellery store robberies at two malls in the Canadian city of Mississauga within two days.

The robberies which took place on May 9 and May 10, was allegedly carried out by a gang of six members, who were armed with hammers.

As per media reports, the robbers smashed several display cases and stole a large quantity of jewellery from the Mississauga mall on May 9.

Following the first incident, the suspects escaped with the help of a vehicle that was previously reported to be stolen in Toronto.

Meanwhile, as the police was patrolling inside another Mississauga mall, five suspects attacked another jewellery store.

The gang of robbers, who were again armed with hammers, carried out the act in the same manner as the previous day’s, by smashing display cases and running away with valuable items.

According to an India Today report, the cops were able to arrest three robbers, including 20-year-old Indian-origin man, identified as Tejpal Toor. He was reportedly arrested after a foot chase with the mall security.

The stolen vehicle that was most likely connected to the crimes was also recovered.

Several charges, including robbery, wearing a disguise with intent and possession of property obtained by crime was slapped against Tejpal Toor from Toronto, as well as the two other suspects.

Further investigation into the matter is currently underway, the police however suspects that the accused can face more charges.
