A 19-year-old man in Mexico was arrested while holding his sister's decapitated head in a case of gruesome femicide.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in Mexico after he was allegedly seen walking holding his sister’s decapitated head in the Quiroga region while wielding a gun in his other hand, Mexico-based news outlet AM said in a report.

Passersby horrified by the sight informed the Michoacán State Police. The suspect has been identified only by his first name, Sebastián. He was holding the head of his elder sister, 26-year-old Julieta. He was arrested from a nearby clinic in Quiroga last week. Her naked, lifeless body was lying at a gas station several hundred feet away.

The Michoacán State Police officials arrested Sebastián without any incident and seized the rifle he was carrying, the Michoacán state prosecutor’s office said. The cops are probing a possible motive for the gruesome crime.

Sebastián was being held by the Michoacán state prosecutor’s office and it remains unclear what charges he will be facing.

The alleged femicide was reminiscent of the October 2022 Lucero Yazmin Hidalgo murder case where Lucero’s friend Lev Norman killed her and then decapitated her and took the severed head in a backpack and then tried to flee the crime scene but was arrested by the police.

Lucero and Lev have known each other since high-school, Lucero’s parents who are awaiting justice told Mexican news outlets. Lucero was a physics student at the Faculty of Sciences of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico.

She was murdered inside her own home by Lev who also stabbed her brother Giovanni.
