You'll Be Surprised To Know What This US Family Found In Their Christmas Tree
The family had brought the tree to their home and decorated it before they spotted the bird, who they say, blended into the branches of their Christmas tree.

A Lexington family from Kentucky had an unexpected holiday surprise when a baby owl made its home in their Christmas tree this season. As the White family of Lexington brought home their traditional Christmas tree last month, little did they know that a tiny stowaway had already taken up residence. Michele White shared with Fox56 News that the uninvited guest managed to stay concealed within the Christmas tree for a surprising four days before being discovered. Despite the family’s longstanding tradition of procuring real Christmas trees, this festive season brought a unique twist with a fledgling owl becoming an unexpected part of their celebrations.

According to Michele White, the revelation of the owl’s presence left her very surprised. “I was shocked. I was so stunned,” White said. Bobby Hayes, the owner of a local carpet cleaning business, stumbled upon the owl while working in the White family home during their absence. On November 27, Hayes spotted the owl perched on a lower branch of the Christmas tree. Despite the initial escape deeper into the tree, the owl was eventually glimpsed again a few minutes later.

Sharing a photo of the owl with Michele White, Hayes revealed the surprising visitor. White expressed her amazement that neither the family’s three dogs nor anyone else had noticed the owl amidst the holiday hustle and bustle in their busy household.

Grateful that Hayes discovered the owl before her return, White humorously remarked, “I would have left the house. The owl could’ve stayed without me. I wasn’t coming home.” Hayes released the uninjured bird in the White family’s backyard, and since then, it has not been sighted.

While the White family is hoping that the little fledgling owl will reunite with its kind, they are not the only ones who have found this little, amusing surprise with their Christmas tree. A few years ago, a similar situation happened with a Georgia-based family too.

According to The Guardian, Katie McBride Newman’s family had an extraordinary encounter when they found a live owl hidden in their Christmas tree, more than a week after bringing it home from Home Depot.

After decorating the tree with lights and owl ornaments, they attempted to encourage the owl to leave by opening windows and doors, but the bird seemed content to stay. Realising that the owl might face challenges in their home, especially regarding food, Katie’s husband, Billy Newman, decided to seek assistance.

The family reached out to the Chattahoochee Nature Center, a not-for-profit organisation, for help. The nature center successfully caught the owl and then collaborated with the family to release it back into the wild, ensuring the bird’s well-being and a safe return to its natural habitat.

With these unexpected guests arriving home, be sure to have a thorough look at your Christmas tree before bringing it home!
