A crowd of demonstrators barged into the PM's official residence and vandalised the property in Dhaka.

After weeks of political unrest across the country, thousands of protesters in Bangladesh stormed Ganabhaban, the official residence of Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka on Monday and vandalized the premises. Although Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister and left Bangladesh, the demonstrators caused extensive damage. Shocking visuals have surfaced on the internet, showing people inside the building stealing nearly everything, including rugs, utensils, pet animals, clothes, her personal belongings and even saree blouses.

Several videos and pictures depict men carrying saree blouses in their hands and flaunting them in front of cameras. Others went further, even draping the PM’s sarees while stacking other items in buckets and bags.

Social media users are expressing anguish over such actions by civilians. Reacting to the visuals, a user wrote, “Never saw any students in the world who have done something pathetic like this.”

Another commented, “They are not students They are goons hired by global leftists gang.”

“Golden era of Bangladesh is over… Soon Bangladesh will become just like Pakistan… Pakistani are celebrating, just like they celebrated when Talibans took over Afghanistan,” a comment read.

A user criticised the looting of the PM’s personal belongings and wrote, “Where is humanity? This is totally disgusting Murder of democracy Radicals looted bra, fish, saree, blouse, and dustbins from Sheikh Hasina’s residence. One ri0ter even wore a saree. They have looted utensils from her kitchen.”

Other videos circulating online show protesters eating food from the kitchens, lying on Sheikh Hasina’s bed and stealing items such as televisions, chairs, tables, fish, ducks and luxurious goods. One of the scenes captured on the streets depicts people celebrating the government’s fall.

Throughout the day, crowds continued to flood in and out of Ganabhaban, creating complete chaos.

Meanwhile, after fleeing the country, Sheikh Hasina arrived at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad on Monday evening. She, along with her sister, departed Dhaka in a military helicopter. Following her departure, the Bangladesh military assumed full control of the country.
