Video Of Woman Using Ex-Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina’s Elliptical Machine Viral. Here's How People Reacted
Sheikh Hasina arrived at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad on the evening of August 5 after fleeing the country.

After Sheikh Hasina resigned as Bangladesh Prime Minister and fled the country on August 5, thousands of demonstrators stormed the official Dhaka residence of the PM. After weeks of demonstrations against Hasina’s 15-year rule and a government job quota system, protesters targeted Ganabhaban, her official residence, as well as other buildings connected to her family and party.

Videos of people inside the building stealing almost everything, including carpets, chairs, tables, fans, utensils, pets, clothing, her items, and even saree blouses, have been making the rounds on the internet. Now a video of a woman using Sheikh Hasina’s elliptical machine has sparked reactions on social media.

In the video, a woman is seen waving at the protestors who applaud her as she pedals forward on the elliptical machine. “My cousin sent me this video from Bangladesh. Someone stole Hasina’s elliptical; I am SCREAMING!!!” the caption reads.

The video was shared on X (formally Twitter) on August 5 and has collected over 1.7 million views. Several social media users criticised the woman for her act.

A user wrote, “At this point, it’s not stealing. It’s redistribution of wealth.”

“You are a clown and are no different from Hasina for celebrating theft and vandalism,” a user said.

“This is so cringe,” another user remarked.

In addition to exercise equipment, several widely shared photos show the demonstrators leaving the house with clothing, electronics, furniture, and even a Dior suitcase. There are videos showing demonstrators lying in bed, eating food, and setting fire to the building. One of the scenes caught on the streets shows people celebrating the administration’s fall.

Sheikh Hasina arrived at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad on the evening of August 5 after fleeing the country. She and her sister, Sheikh Rehana, took off on a military chopper from Dhaka. Following her departure, Bangladesh’s military took complete control of the country.
