This Photo Of 'Reserved' Urinals For Class-1 Officers Triggers Heated Debate Online

Concerns about inequality in society have become a common issue, as many criticise how lower class individuals are treated as outcasts while those in power enjoy unique treatment. Recently, a photo circulating online has intensified this debate and left social media users infuriated. The picture, allegedly taken in a government office in India, shows a visible divide between high ranking officials and regular employees. As per the viral post, it reveals a set of urinals in the office that are reserved exclusively for Class-1 officers, which has attracted heavy criticism from the public. Many are questioning why such divisions exist in a place which is meant to treat everyone equally.

The viral photo shows five urinals, two of which have posters stating, “Reserved Only For Class-1 Officers.” As of now, the specific government organization to which this image belongs remains unknown, but the message has shocked the internet. Since the individual shared the post on X, it has garnered over 3 lakh views. The user wrote, “Please read the poster carefully and ponder, is this the kind of India you had/have imagined? Utter shame.”

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Only Britishers left India but that elite mentality is still prevalent in India.”

Another shared, “Class 1 officers are special. They don’t piss ordinary urine, it’s UPSC qualified.”

“I don’t know why they have written like this, I have seen the real class 1 officers locking the washroom from outside because it’s to be used only by them,” a comment read.

Another noted, “We do have similar sign/s here in the USA but for people with disabilities. This is disgusting.”

An individual asserted, “Right to equality laughing at the corner.”

One more added, “They’re enjoying a special elite class from the taxpayer’s money.”

Class-1 officials represent the highest level of government employees in India. This category includes Commissioned Officers of the Indian Armed Forces, Civil Service Bureaucrats, such as IAS, IPS and IFS officers, scientists from organisations like ISRO, DRDO, BARC and CSIR, as well as Vice-Chancellors, Directors and Faculty members of central universities and institutions like IITs, IIMs, IISc, AIIMS and Delhi University. It also covers Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP), officers from all central services and doctors in government hospitals.
