For many people, building a house can take more than half of their lives and it is always a surreal experience to own it. A house has to have accommodation for at least a family of four, but this particular house in Florida, the USA, is too compact for it.

The Unilad website reports about a property in South Jacksonville part of the Florida state, which only stands at a mere 1,547-square-foot and is two storeys high. It is designed in a single straight line. For comparison, an average house in Florida is around 1,700 square feet, so one can gauge how small this house is.

Because of its tiny size, a buyer would expect its price to be reasonably low but that is not true. It is reportedly listed at $619,000 or Rs 5.16 crore. The house is located on the South Jacksonville beach and its listing description calls it a “unique” property, constructed on a “narrow but deep lot”. According to the sellers, it is the best option for those who want “a low maintenance and energy efficient home that comes with a builder-backed warranty”.

The place boasts of luxury but some locals were not amused by the construction. It is installed with an open-plan kitchen while the beds are a part of the property. As per reports, the area it is built on was being used as a garden by a neighbour who was unsurprisingly not enthusiastic to find out that house is going to be built here.

Furthermore, the neighbours and some locals attended a public hearing to complain about the inconveniences of the plan. The board reportedly disallowed any adjustments to the area. So, the builder had the only option to construct a 10-foot wide house instead of a 15-foot wide, as proposed earlier.

The listing agent Ryan Wetherhold told Business Insider that the property was made “out of spite”. He said, “To be honest, the builder almost built this out of spite just because of that fact, oh, you don’t think we can build, hold my beer.”
