Scared Of Online Scams? Delhi Police Has A Simple Solution To Your Problem
Delhi Police shared a humorous video featuring a man losing his money to an online scammer.

Online payment options have definitely made life easier. People now don’t have to worry about carrying cash everywhere as they can send and receive money via their smartphones. Despite the convenience, many individuals still can’t trust UPIs, considering the rise of online fraud. The cyber cell has time and again tried to raise awareness about such online scams, urging people not to share any sort of personal information with others. Delhi Police, known for sharing humourous yet cautionary posts, has now suggested how people can battle these scammers.

Doing justice to its reputation, the department, dropped a witty post on X (formerly Twitter), shedding light on the consequences of sharing OTP (one-time password) with unknown persons. They shared a video featuring a youngster who seems addicted to online games that offer people monetary rewards.

The clip opens with the man receiving a notification on his smartphone that says, “You’ve won Rs 10 lakh lottery. Click here to share OTP and receive money.” Excited by the message, he quickly follows the instructions to claim his prize.

In the following scene, the same person appears devastated. His heartbreak becomes apparent as another notification pops up on his phone, revealing: “Account debited by Rs 1 lakh to unknown.” As the background score, Delhi Police used the song– “Ye Kya Hua Kaise Hua” from Rajesh Khanna-starrer movie Amar Prem and the lyrics perfectly described the person’s emotional turmoil.

Through the caption of the X post, Delhi Police sent out an important message– “Koi OTP puchhey toh use bas itna kahe – Chodo Ye Naa Puchho (If someone asks for your OTP, just tell them, ‘Let it be, don’t ask’).”

The post received a thumbs-up from many social media users, who feel such an advisory will help citizens to keep themselves safe from fraudulent activities. Since being shared on the microblogging site, the video has accumulated more than 7,000 views while garnering hundreds of likes.
