Lakhs of students write a highly competitive entrance exam to secure admission to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). But what’s life like inside India’s premier medical school? An AIIMS student dropped a room tour video of his hostel, giving the world a sneak peek into the lives of doctors in the making.

The video, “Room Tour of AIIMS”, shared on X (formally Twitter), showcases a student’s accommodation at the Deoghar, Jharkhand branch of the medical college.

Starting with a view of the institute from the outside, the video highlights that the cost of pursuing an MBBS degree at AIIMS is just Rs 5,586. The student occupies a furnished room for just Rs 15 per month, featuring amenities like a spacious bed, a study table, a cupboard and a revolving chair. He also mentions that the room has a 24-hour electricity supply, which costs only Rs 4 per month.

The video also captures the stunning sunset view from the balcony, overlooking a scenic open area filled with trees.

Take a look at the video here:

The clip has garnered nearly 2 lakh views along with a range of reactions from users online.

“Our world-class students deserve world-class amenities. Thanks, Government of India,” a user wrote.

“Excited to see the facilities at AIIMS Deoghar! Great step for healthcare in Jharkhand,” read another reply.

One user referring to the difficulty level of the AIIMS entrance exam, wrote, “All’s well until you hit that cutoff for admission!”

Lauding the facilities offered by AIIMS, another person commented, “Looks amazing! AIIMS should be developed in all major cities across the country.”

Another video, that went viral a few days ago, presented a humorous take on AIIMS hostel life. The student, who recorded the video, sarcastically “warned” viewers against joining the institute, citing the numerous benefits.

“If you join AIIMS, a lot of people will call and congratulate you. This will be tiring. Who wants to be part of an institute where the government spends Rs 1.7 crore on each medical student,” the student says in the video shared on X. With a sarcastic tone, he jokes about the academic opportunities at AIIMS, pointing out that students can begin their research journey from the very first year. “Why would anyone want to see their name in the newspaper for publishing research so early?” he quips.

He then humorously points out the availability of free Wi-Fi in the hostels, joking that it would lead to exhaustion from watching too much Netflix every day.

The institution also holds lively cultural events featuring prominent musicians and artists for the students.

The student concludes with, “Why would anyone want to live such a life?”
