Remember The X Employee Who Went Viral For Sleeping On The Floor? She Has Now Joined Meta
Esther Crawford, who was fired by Elon Musk last year, has joined Meta as the Director of Product.

A former senior lieutenant at Elon Musk’s Twitter, whose photo of sleeping on the office floor went viral last year, says she now works for Mark Zuckerberg at Meta. Esther Crawford allegedly has been appointed Director of Product at Messenger. The former Twitter director, who reported directly to Elon Musk after going all in on his Twitter 2.0, had taken a period off from her work after being fired from the company in February 2023.

“Some personal news: I’ve joined the Messenger team at Meta as Director of Product,” Esther Crawford said on Instagram on Monday.

Crawford also stated in her post that, while she looked into several terrific possibilities, Meta was her first pick. She claims to be “obsessed” with how humans interact through technology, and that no other firm has a greater influence in that arena than Meta, which links approximately 4 billion individuals.

Along with praising “the exceptional quality of the people” employed by Meta, Crawford expressed her attraction to Zuckerberg’s “vision and intensity.” “Seeing how he’s made the company more efficient and less bureaucratic in the past year makes me even more bullish to be joining now because I want to move fast and ship awesome products,” Crawford said of the billionaire entrepreneur.

She said that she is excited to learn from those who have worked here for a long time and that the organisation is wonderful in so many ways. She said that she is excited to contribute her expertise and “quirky style” to the organisation. She states that working at Meta is “definitely a special time” since the company is positioned to deliver the next generation of social experiences, democratise free access to AI through its app family and let developers build on top of Llama 3, the most recent open-source LLM.

Crawford’s statement comes a little over a year after leaving X. She joined Twitter in December 2020, after the company purchased her video chat startup Squad.

Crawford was revealed to be among Elon Musk’s closest professionals following his takeover of the business in October 2022. Crawford made headlines not only for taking over the subscription business Twitter Blue but also for publicly embracing Musk’s rigorous work ethic.

“When your team is pushing round the clock to make deadlines sometimes you #SleepWhereYouWork,” Crawford wrote in November 2022, after publishing a now-deleted photo of herself sleeping at Twitter’s workplace.

Crawford was let go in February 2023, though, despite making it through Twitter’s first three rounds of layoffs.
