A disturbing video showing cockroaches crawling on the seats of the Amarkantak Express train has gone viral, sparking outrage on social media. The video, filmed by a passenger travelling from Obaidullaganj, Madhya Pradesh captures the insects crawling on the train’s seating area, prompting widespread criticism.
Following several videos of strange items found in railway food, this video of insects has raised serious concerns about the cleanliness standards of Indian Railways.
In the viral video, the passenger can be heard saying, “This is the Amarkantak Express. Just look at the number of cockroaches — it seems there are more of them than passengers. How can we travel like this? Railways seems more focused on launching Vande Bharat trains, but no attention is being given to the condition of common trains now."
The passenger’s remarks have fueled discussion about the declining cleanliness in trains, particularly on ordinary services, while premium trains receive greater emphasis.
Insects found In Packaged Foods
This incident follows another controversy in Madhya Pradesh, where a video surfaced showing insects inside a packet of Maggi noodles. A customer from Jabalpur purchased the noodles, which had a manufacturing date of 2024 and an expiry date of 2025. However, after tearing open the packet, he discovered worms in them. Shocked by the incident, the customer also lodged a complaint with the consumer forum.
In a separate but similar incident in Jabalpur, a packet of Poha purchased from a grocery store was found to contain worms. The customer discovered the worms while preparing breakfast, leading to widespread shock and concern over the safety of packaged foods.
