Vande Bharat trains are known for their comfort and top notch facilities, but a recent incident has sparked concern. A passenger traveling on train number 22416 from Delhi to Varanasi captured an unpleasant video as they were shocked to see the water leaking from the roof during their journey. Soon after it started circulating online, social media users criticised the railway authority who were shocked by the situation.
Many passengers reported similar problems in the past as well. Meanwhile, in response to the viral video, Northern Railway addressed the issue and stated that their staff had fixed the leakage during the journey. Since the video was shared on X, it has gone viral and garnered over 25,000 views.
The user wrote, “See the condition of Vande Bharat train. This train runs on Delhi-Varanasi route. The number of Vande Bharat is 22416.” Northern Railways were quick to acknowledge the issue and responded stating, “Slight water leakage was observed in a coach because of temporary blockage of pipes. The same was attended and rectified by the staff on the train. The inconvenience caused is regretted.”

Earlier, a similar issue happened with the newly launched Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod Vande Bharat Express. While the train was parked at Kannur, a water leakage was spotted coming through the AC vent. Railway officials fixed the problem on the same day. According to reports, the leakage was minor and affected only one coach.
Meanwhile, the government has been busy expanding its Vande Bharat train network. In March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated 10 new Vande Bharat trains from Ahmedabad. With this addition, there are now 51 trains covering 45 routes, such as Kasaragod–Thiruvananthapuram, Delhi-Katra, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Delhi-Varanasi, Mysuru-Chennai, Ranchi-Howrah and Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad, among others.
Delhi has the highest number of Vande Bharat trains, connecting 10 places like Amb Andaura, Amritsar, Ayodhya, Bhopal, Dehradun and Khajuraho. Mumbai follows with six trains, while Chennai has five.
