The IMD has forecasted that soaring temperatures and heatwave conditions will persist in the southern state.

As Karnataka grapples with temperatures beyond the 40-degree Celsius mark, Bengaluru, known as India’s startup capital, finds itself confronting a set of challenges. As the city battles with both rising mercury levels and acute water shortage, an individual sought ‘refuge’ in an OYO hotel to escape the sweltering heat.

Sharing on social media platform X (Formerly Twitter), Rishabh Srivastava wittingly remarked on the transition of Bengaluru weather from “chill” to “grill”. He humorously added his inability to survive without an air conditioner anymore. To cope with the scorching heat, he playfully stated that he checked into an OYO hotel as a “refugee”.

“Looks like Bengaluru weather decided to level up from chill to grill. Can’t survive without AC anymore. Checked into oyo rooms as a refugee,” Rishabh shared on X.

Amidst the striking heat challenges for Bengaluru, earlier, a heartwarming video surfaced online. It depicted an elderly man riding a scooter, who stopped as soon as he spotted traffic police officers. From his bag, he distributed the water bottles to them. The traffic police officers expressed their gratitude to the man for his kind gesture. The video quickly went viral, amassing over 157,000 views and garnering praise from the online users.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that soaring temperatures and heatwave conditions will persist in the southern state. Additionally, the weather department has issued a heat wave alert, stating, “This is likely to continue to exceed 95th percentile of climatological value over extended areas of the state on April 2. Heat index in isolated pockets of Coastal and North Interior Karnataka is in the range of 40 to 50 degrees Celsius.”

According to the reports, the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has announced a 10 percent cut in supply to those who use water between 40 lakh and 2 crore litres per day from April 10, 2024.

Earlier, the BWSSB had announced a 20 percent water supply cut for 38 bulk users, who consume over two crore litres of water every day. With the decision, the board began saving nearly 10 million litres per Day (MLD) daily.
