Man Ends Year On A High With Rs 14,000 Crore Lottery Win

One of the easiest ways to earn money in life is by winning the lottery; but for that, you need to be lucky as well. We all may have discussed how winning a lottery would truly solve a lot of life’s problems. One Florida man, this year, won 1.6 billion dollars, with a lottery ticket worth only 2 dollars. He remained unnamed from September; finally, his identity has been revealed. This winning ticket from the August 8 lucky draw was first claimed on September 27. Florida Law prohibits disclosing the name of winners who claim prizes worth 250,000 dollars (about Rs 2 crore) or more for public disclosure for 90 days from the claim date. Recently, the Florida Lottery shared the identity of the winner who claimed the prize under the name of Saltines Holdings LLC.

The 1.6 billion lottery prize marks the largest jackpot in the history of the Mega Millions and is the fourth largest in the history of the USA. When the lottery was initially announced, it was unclear if the winner chose a one-time, lump-sum payment or annual payment. It turned out that the winner chose a one-time payment.

What’s shocking is that all the five white ball numbers and the Mega Ball number matched. Reportedly, the lottery ticket was purchased from Publix at 630 Atlantic Blvd in Neptune Beach east of Jacksonville. The grocery store will also get a $100,000 (Rs 83 lakhs approx) bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The Florida Lottery posted the announcement on their X (formerly known as Twitter) account. The caption read, “Historic Moment! Saltines Holdings, LLC, a Floridian, emerges victorious as the sole winner claiming the stunning $1.6 billion MEGA MILLIONS jackpot! The life-changing Quick Pick ticket was snagged at a Publix in Neptune Beach. Cheers to dreams coming true!”

Users congratulated the winner and wrote, “fantastic” and “wonderful”. A user jokingly asked, “Can we see the actual winning ticket?”
