Man, 40, Suffers Brain Haemorrhage Following 'Exposure To Loud DJ Music'
The incident reportedly happened while Jaiswal was loading equipment into a DJ vehicle.

In a troubling case from Balrampur district in Chhattisgarh, a 40-year-old man experienced a brain haemorrhage that doctors linked to exposure to loud DJ music. Sanjay Jaiswal, who had no prior history of conditions like high blood pressure or other injuries, has raised concerns among health practitioners about the potential health risks associated with excessive noise exposure.

As per a report in the Times Of India (TOI), the incident happened while Jaiswal was loading equipment into a DJ vehicle. He felt dizzy and although he initially ignored the feeling, he decided to go home. Nevertheless, later the same evening his situation began to deteriorate and he complained of having a headache and vomiting.

Worried about his health, Jaiswal went to Ambikapur Government Medical College the next morning.

Upon examining Jaiswal, Dr. Shailendra Gupta, an ENT specialist at the hospital, recommended a CT scan. The scan revealed a blood clot in the posterior part of his brain, caused by a ruptured blood vessel, as reported by TOI.

Normally, these rifts are said to happen due to hypertension, an accident or more specifically, a fight which was not the case in Jaiswal. His blood pressure was reportedly noted to be normal at 110/70 much to the confusion of the medical staff.

Dr Gupta told the news outlet that Jaiswal was unwilling to explain the events leading to his predicament initially, probably due to his acquaintance with the DJ.

After much probing, he conceded to having been close to the speakers when he first started feeling dizzy. This admission made doctors think that the loud noise could have contributed to the brain haemorrhage because not everybody has a strong occipital area at the back of the head which might have been affected by the noise.

Dr Gupta also talked about potential adverse health effects resulting from exposure to loud sounds. In conversation with TOI, he underlined that loud sound is very dangerous for health as it can cause hearing loss, high blood pressure and even heart attack.

He quoted a study done in 2022, whereby among 50 traffic personnel working in the noisy environment 12 exposed themselves to hearing loss while 25 complained of other effects like insomnia and irritability.

This incident has led to further debate over noise pollution in the area. ETV Bharat reported that local people, especially businessman SK Singh have demanded the government take measures to stop DJ music that has proven to be dangerous for human health, interrupting children’s learning process and frightening wildlife.

The publication further quoted Yoga instructor Kamlesh Soni calling for a stricter regulation on sound levels saying that no DJ music should be played after 10 PM.

Earlier, the Chhattisgarh High Court had criticised the state government for its lack of action against noise pollution and sought an affidavit on actions taken against DJs/amplifiers on the same. Thereafter, another top-level meeting was held by the Chief Secretary to address issues of implementation of noise pollution laws.
