The names of cold regions that emerged during the question-answer session are Russia, Canada, Mongolia, Iceland, Greenland and Finland.

Those living in tropical regions have the opportunity to enjoy every season throughout the year; while others living higher up may find it difficult to survive due to the consistent cold weather. In this scenario, the question arises, which is the coldest country in the world where it is hard to survive and how do people living in those certain areas manage to deal with the same? A few Quora users have thrown light on how people live in extremely cold temperatures in different countries and survive.

Speaking of the coldest countries in the world, the names that emerged during the question-answer session are Russia, Canada, Mongolia, Iceland, Greenland, and Finland. These places are believed to be the ones where the people experience the chilliest weather. Among all these countries, Canada is the one where there are weeks with temperatures in the minus 30-40 range.

Nancy Blicq, one of the Quora users, shared her experience and wrote, “I live in a rural area, and I heat with wood. This year I made the rookie mistake of buying poor-quality firewood. Once the cold set in I was going through 3 wheelbarrows full for every 24 hours, and I very nearly ran out. It was getting cold in my cottage.”

The woman also shared that the septic line froze due to which she could not use the toilet and was compelled to use a bucket adding that when she planned to go for grocery shopping, there was a little storm and her car wouldn’t start as its battery was nearly frozen.

Nancy further revealed that she was stuck in minus 30 weather, almost out of firewood, with no water, no drinking water, and low on supplies, and was helped by neighbours who offered to bring her groceries.

Another one who moved to Canada from Karachi, Pakistan also shared how it was to live in the country and wrote, “Canada is a cold country, the houses are equipped with heating systems. We live in controlled environments, almost throughout the year, all across Canada. Homes, offices, schools – we simply can not survive without heating.”

She further shared, “A few years ago, during the winter break, temperatures fell to some -27 degrees, here in GTA and it felt like -33 with wind-chill,” adding that, “Four hours later, the house was like a freezer box, and there was no chance of the power coming back any soon”.
