How A Smart Ring Turned This Entrepreneur's US Visa Interview Upside Down
When Abbot found himself in a dilemma, he resolved to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps when he left Pakistan.

Ultrahuman, an Indian fitness and nutrition tracking business, released a smart ring that gives fitness analytics in 2023. Now, for most of us, it would sound unwise to entrust this second-generation gadget to a stranger given its starting price of more than Rs 29,000. The same was the case with a business entrepreneur who shared a humorous story about this smart ring on social media platform X (Formerly Twitter), which happened during the application process for a US visa.

Deepak Abbot, the founder of the digital gold platform Indiagold, detailed his experience at a US visa interview, emphasising the severe limitations of bringing gadgets and his quick thinking to overcome a problem. Abbott said that since he was wearing an Ultrahuman fitness ring—an electronic gadget that is not allowed inside—he was turned away when he came for the interview.

When Abbot found himself in a dilemma, he resolved to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps when he left Pakistan. Abbot reportedly moved just a few yards away from the visa office, dug a hole, placed his ring inside, and marked it with a stone. “Only difference – I went back and took it back,” Abbot jokes. With the words, “Do not carry any electronics to US visa interview,” Abbott concluded his tweet with advice for anybody else hoping to visit the US.

The post had 313,100 views on the social media platform at the time of reporting. Most individuals in the comments section were curious about the prospect of a visa office without providing a locker or a safe location to keep visitors’ items.

“How come they don’t have any facility to store?” a user asked. “I doubt people would be just leaving their phones outside randomly.”

Another said, “No idea which consulate you went but in Delhi, they do have lockers.”

A user talked about his own experience, writing, “Even I had faced a similar situation in Delhi. There was no place to keep my mobile and smartwatch. The locker facility is removed. An auto guy charged me 100 Rs for 200 meters and took me to a shady place where a guy charged me Rs 100/gadget.”

The primary features Ultrahuman specifies for the Ring Air are skin temperature, heart rate variability (HRV), movement, sleep, and heart rate (HR) tracking around the clock. You may organise your training or other physical activities with the assistance of this monitoring combination, which yields a (post-sleep) daily Recovery Score in addition to Sleep and Movement Indexes.
