Failed Pigeon Flight At Chhattisgarh's Independence Day Event Reminds Internet Of Panchayat Season 3
The officer assigned to this assignment has come under fire from Jaiswal, who said that he "has not discharged his responsibility properly."

During an Independence Day celebration in Mungeli, Chhattisgarh, a pigeon released as a symbol of peace opted not to fly at all. Instead, it simply lounged on the floor. The event happened during a ceremony that was attended by local officials, and it immediately provoked comparisons to the scene from the prominent web series Panchayat. Now, Girija Shankar Jaiswal, the superintendent of police, has demanded that those accountable for this accident face disciplinary punishment.

As symbols of peace and freedom, pigeons were given to chief guest Punnulal Mohle, BJP MLA and former minister, Mungeli Collector Rahul Deo, and Superintendent of Police Girija Shankar Jaiswal to release during the event, according to PTI. The pigeon that the SP released crashed on the ground, while the ones freed by the MLA and the collector took flight and flew away.

Jaiswal promptly released a replacement pigeon, which took off with success. Following the video’s widespread circulation on social media, the SP wrote the Collector a letter asking for disciplinary action, PTI added.

The letter underlined the detrimental effects of presenting a sick pigeon at a significant national event and voiced alarm about the incident being extensively disseminated on social media. As per the news agency, the SP pointed out that things may have become much worse if the pigeon had fallen when the chief guest or the MLA was releasing it. The officer assigned to this assignment has come under fire from Jaiswal, who said that he “has not discharged his responsibility properly.”

Meanwhile, the comments section of the shared video on X (formerly Twitter) was flooded with laughing emojis with users referencing Panchayat.

A user commented, “And SP Sahab was probably going to turn back and scold ‘Bam Bahadur’.”

Another user said, “Copied the entire script from Panchayat 3.”

Yet another user noted, “Now it will be interesting to see what action Bam Bahadur takes.”

The character of MLA Chandrakishore Singh, also known as Vidhayak Ji, attempts to release a pigeon in one of the episodes of Panchayat season 3, wishing for the prosperity and tranquility of Phulera outside the village’s Gram Panchayat. But instead of taking off, the bird lands on the ground, exactly like it did during Mungeli’s Independence Day festivities. Notably, Bam Bahadur was the person from whom the organisers acquired the pigeons in the series.
