Virat Kohli could not have asked for a better way to cap off his T20I career. The Indian stalwart announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game having won the T20 World Cup title in Barbados. Kohli played a fine knock of 76 in the final against South Africa to guide India to their second T20 World Cup title. Following India’s emphatic T20 World Cup win, Kohli was visibly emotional at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. A digital artist named Divyanshu Garg recently paid a heartfelt tribute to Kohli by uploading an adorable video of the former Indian skipper on Instagram.

The fan-made video showed Kohli’s late father Prem Nath Kohli holding the prestigious T20 World Cup trophy along with his son. “Virat Kohli World Champion celebrating the legacy and dreams of his and his father, Prem Kohli. The journey from dream to reality,” read the post shared on Instagram.

The heartwarming video has so far garnered more than 4 million views and fans flooded the comments section with wholhearted responses.

“This is gonna be the most shared video of you,” commented one Instagram user.

“Virat’s father feeling dream, respect,” read another response.

Showering love on the father-son duo, another social media user wrote, “He’s always with him. Love you king.”

“They always bless him from heaven,” wrote one more fan.

“Virat Kohli, this one with your papa is the best gift ever, bigger than the WC trophy,” commented another social media user.

Virat Kohli’s father passed away on December 18, 2006. While revealing his connection with the number 18, Kohli had previously said in a video, uploaded by Star Sports, “To be honest, 18 started off as being just a number that was given to me when I first opened that India U-19 jersey with my name and number on the back. But it ended up becoming a very very important number in my life. I made my India debut on August 18. My father also died on December 18, 2006. Two of the most significant moments of my life happened to be on 18th. Even though i got the number before that, there seems to be a cosmic connection with this date.”

Virat Kohli capped off his illustrious T20I career scoring 4188 runs in 125 matches. Kohli is the second-highest run scorer in T20I cricket, right behind Rohit Sharma (4231 runs). Kohli has one century and 38 half-centuries to his name in T20Is.
