Anand Mahindra On Free Cancer Care Centre In Odisha: 'We Should Spread The Word'
The newly inaugurated cancer care centre in Bhubaneshwar provides compassionate care to patients at advanced stages of the disease.

In a major milestone, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a new cancer care centre, Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Centre and Research Institute (BSCCRI) in Bhubaneshwar. The centre which aims to provide quality treatment to patients at an affordable cost, has gained a lot of appreciation from people including Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra. Known for being an active social media user, Anand Mahindra was recently seen hailing the efforts of the state government in setting up the cancer centre in Odisha.

Resharing a post shared by IPS officer Arun Bothra, Anand Mahindra not only shared his admiration for the centre but also urged others to spread the information to all who need cancer care.

“What a humane and generous project. Subroto, I salute you and Susmita for making your state and our country a far better place. We should spread the word about this to all who might need such care…,” he wrote.

Mahindra’s post caught a lot of attention, as many came forward to laud the initiative of the Odisha government. A user wrote, “That’s remarkable and very generous,” while another follower commented, “Stay Blessed To the entire team members who are taking care of the terminally ill patients life for few days weeks,months.”

A user, while lauding the initiative wrote, “BKPCC is a collaborative effort of Bangalore Hospice Trust (BHT) Karunashraya and Mindtree co-founder and chairman of Odisha Skill Development Authority Subroto Bagchi for which the Bagchi family has pledged Rs 130 crore.”

“This is a noble initiative. Have seen a similar facility at Bangalore. All the best to the entire team for doing selfless service to mankind at a time when even near and dear ones leave,” another user wrote.

In the original post, the IPS officer while sharing pictures of the cancer care centre wrote, “Last stage of cancer is often very painful, both for the patient and the family. The best one can do is to reduce the pain and provide quality life in those last few weeks or months. Bagchi Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre, Bhubaneswar has started its in-patient services earlier this week. Focus is on providing compassionate care for advanced cancer patients, End of Life, and Respite Care needs. In case you know any patient who needs such care please do connect them.
