Serbian tennis player Dejana Radanovic has found herself in the centre of a racism row after posting a series of critical posts about her experiences in India recently.

Radanovic, the world No. 245 in women’s tennis, had been in India for the ITF tournaments that were taking place in Mumbai. The Serbian star was defeated by Vaideh Chaudhari in the match after she was forced to retire hurt.

In a slew of Instagram Stories shared earlier this week before her departure, the tennis star harshly critiqued Indian food, hygiene, and traffic sense after a three-week stay in the country.

“Adios India. See you never ever ever ever ever EVER again,” she wrote in a series of Instagram Stories as she left the country on a bitter note.

“I didn’t like India – the country,” she wrote in one Instagram Story. “I didn’t like the food, traffic, hygiene (worms in the food, yellow pillows and dirty bed linen in the hotel, not knowing how to use roundabout etc.)”

But the onslaught did not just end there as upon reaching Munich, Radanovic shared another post that read, “Hello civilization. Only those who have experienced something like India for 3 weeks can understand the feeling.”

Her stories garnered a lot of attentions from followers online, who took to the tennis star and accused her of racism.

But, Radanovic then took to her Stories once again to address these allegations and stated that her experiences were not a reflection of the people that lived here, and that she was not making any racist remarks.

“I didn’t like India – the country.”

“I didn’t like the food, traffic, hygiene (worms in the food, yellow pillows and dirty bed linen in the hotel, not knowing how to use roundabout etc.)

“If you come to my country, Serbia, and you don’t like all those same things, that means you are a racist??? What the hell does that have to do with racism?! I have friends of all nationalities and colours so don’t go there cause it’s an absolute NONSENSE!”

Radanovic, 27, participated in three W50 events in Pune, Bengaluru, and Indore during her Indian tour.
