In recent years, the long-running comedy show has faced various issues, involving actors leaving due to unpaid dues, creative differences with the production team or harassment claims against the makers. On the other hand, the speculation around Disha Vakani’s return as Dayaben has remained a major point of discussion. 1 – Boycott TMKOC Trends Amid Dayaben’s Absence – Amidst the absence of Disha Vakani’s character, Dayaben, from TMKOC, shows die-hard fans started boycotting the show on social media. Fans expressed disappointment after Dayaben wasn’t back after multiple promises, leading to accusations against show producer Asit Modi for false assurance. Speculation regarding the comedy show’s discontinuation arose but Asit Modi quickly denied these rumours.
2 – Jennifer Mistry vs Asit Modi – Jennifer Mistry, known for her role as Roshan Singh Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, made serious allegations against Asit Modi in May this year. She claimed her departure from the set after alleged misbehaviour by the makers when she requested to leave for her scheduled half-day, which was previously communicated to the team. Mistry had reportedly filed a complaint against Modi, Project Head Sohail Ramani and executive producer Jatin Bajaj. Stating her last shot was on March 6, she confirmed her decision to never return to the set. However, the showmakers refuted Jennifer’s harassment claims on multiple occasions and called them baseless allegations.
3 – Shailesh Lodha Complaint Against Asit Modi – Shailesh who played a titular character in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for 14 years, took legal action against the makers over unpaid salary. Lodha lodged a complaint against Asit Modi and his production company in March. Seeking resolution, Lodha also approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to solve the issue. In a surprising turn, Lodha won the lawsuit in August and reportedly secured an Rs 1.05 crore settlement from Modi.
4 – Monika Bhadoriya Accused Makers – Following Jennifer Mistry’s allegations, Monika Bhadoriya known for playing Bawri also made shocking accusations against the makers. She claimed alleged misconduct by them and added that the show’s tedious work environment impacted her health. She accused the producers of untimely salary payments, stating that her dues were cleared only after a year-long struggle following her exit from the show.
