Some industry insiders anticipated that the creators of Neerja had planned this significant twist, signaling the conclusion of Sneha Wagh’s character, Protima, as a strategic move for TRP ratings.
According to a report by India Forums, Sneha Wagh addressed the speculation and clarified the actual reason. “No, I am not quitting the show. In fact, many media people are also asking me the same question about why I am quitting the show because my character is so nice and many things. But I am not quitting, it’s just how the story is progressing, to show Neerja without her mother Protima’s support. They say when your biggest support system is snatched you become stronger, so they are going to snatch Neeraj’s support system which is Protima, and show her a bit stronger,” the television actress said.
Sneha Wagh, who played the role of Protima on Neerja…Ek Nayi Pehchaan, shared glimpses from her farewell party on her Instagram handle. Accompanying the pictures, the actress penned a heartfelt note and thanked everyone who “trusted, supported, and stayed with her in this roller coaster journey of the ride.”
“That’s how my last day on the set was…A beautiful journey of Protima comes to an end. Will definitely miss the vibe. Thanks to everyone who trusted me, supported me and stayed with me on this roller coaster journey of the ride. High on Emotions, bidding adieu is a bit difficult but that’s the cycle of life. Last but not least I’ll miss Neerja calling her mother out every moment … Protimaaaaaaa,” Sneha Wagh wrote.

It seems like you are working so hard through your life, and you are actually getting recognised. It’s a beautiful feeling, and I have very heartfelt gratitude because I have been doing my job with full sincerity and I give maybe 200% to the characters I played. And when they get recognised, and people love them, and get attached to the characters, it feels like a blessing honestly,” Sneha Wagh expressed on receiving the awards, quoted by Indian Forums.
