OnePlus has also introduced a flat 50 per cent off on select accessories along with the purchase of the OnePlus One until April 23, 2015.

New Delhi: OnePlus says goodbye to the invitation-only model. Commemorating the first anniversary of the OnePlus One smartphone, the company has announced that the phone will now sell under open sale. In other words, the phone, which was unveiled last year on April 23, will now be available without invites.

In India, the phone is exclusively available on e-commerce site Amazon.in and users can now buy it without obtaining an invite. It is available at the same price point as before - Rs 21,999 for the 64GB (Sandstone Black) model and Rs 18,999 for the 16GB (Silk White) model.

The phone was launched in India in December last year and was until now available via invites.

"This week marks a very special anniversary for OnePlus. Exactly one year ago this Wednesday, April 23rd, we announced the OnePlus One to the world. With your fantastic support, engagement and most importantly encouragement, we are now pulling the curtains down on what has been, a fantastic "invitation only" journey for our awesome device.

"Why the change of heart? Simply put, the demand for our flagship product has never been higher and what better way to celebrate our anniversary than having an "invite" free model for this superb device," says the company in a blog post.

The company has also introduced a flat 50 per cent off on select accessories along with the purchase of the OnePlus One until April 23, 2015.

It has also confirmed that the next-gen OnePlus 2 will initially be available via invites when it launches later this year.
