The first 5000 customers to get the Freedom 251 will be selected via a lucky draw process.

New Delhi: Ringing Bells has announced that it will start delivering its Rs 251 smartphone in India from July 8. Titled Freedom 251, the company claims it is the world's cheapest smartphone yet. However, a Rs 99 Namotel Acche Din smartphone had also surfaced.

The company says it is ready with 2 lakh units of the Freedom 251 smartphone, but it will ship only 5,000 units in the first phase. The rest of the deliveries will happen after the company gets feedback from the first lot of users.

Available on cash-on-delivery, the phone will cost users Rs 291 - Rs 251 for the phone plus a shipping charge of Rs 40.

As claimed by the company, the first 5,000 customers to get the device will be selected via a lucky draw process.

Ringing Bells has also denied reports that there have been complaints that those who booked Freedom 251, have not been refunded with their money.

"For the first 29,200 units booked online on February 18, a sum of Rs 84 lakhs (including courier charges) was received by the payment gateway M/s CC Avenue prior to the server crash and all these funds have been refunded by the gateway itself. No funds were received by Ringing Bells. M/s CC Avenue Payment gateway has confirmed on March 29 that all payments have been refunded to the respective customers," said Mohit Goel, director, Ringing Bells.

Available in two colours - black and white, the actual phone is different from the one (which was basically the Adcom Ikon 4s in disguise) that was unveiled in February.

The Freedom 251 is a 3G device that includes a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory (expandable up to 32 GB), 8 megapixel rear camera with flash, and a 3.2 megapixel front camera. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Besides, the company also introduced two new smartphones, four new features phones and three power banks. The new smartphones - Elegant (3G) and Elegance (4G Volte) - are priced at Rs 3,999 and Rs 4,499, respectively.

The Elegant has a 5-inch HD IPS Display, 1 GB DDR3 RAM, 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 8 megapixel rear camera, 3.2 megapixel front camera and a 2500 mAh battery. Specification for the Elegance are same except that it includes a 2800 mAh battery.

Feature phones are available under the name King, Boss, Raja and Hit. King and Boss come with a 2.4-inch TFT display, 2 megapixel primary camera and support up to 32GB of expandable memory via microSD card. While the King is packed with a 1,800 mAh battery, the Boss includes a 2,000 mAh battery.

The specifications of the Raja is the same as the King except that it sports a larger 2.8-inch TFT display.

King, Boss and Raja are priced at Rs 899, Rs 999 and Rs 1,099, respectively. The Hit comes with a 1.8-inch display, 2 megapixel primary camera, 1,250 mAh battery, and is priced at Rs 699.

The company is offering 180 days of replacement warranty on the phones.
