Snapdeal Faces Users Anger Over Snapchat Controversy
Snapchat is being boycotted in the country as Founding CEO Evan Speigel was recently accused of commenting that he has no intentions of expanding services into poor countries like India and Spain.

Indian eCommerce giant Snapdeal is suffering amid the Snapchat controversy, as Indians are confusing Snapdeal with Snapchat and uninstalling the application with hateful comments on Play Store and App Store.

Real-time ephemeral messaging service provider, Snapchat is being boycotted in the country as Founding CEO Evan Speigel was recently accused of commenting that he has no intentions of expanding services into poor countries like India and Spain. The claims were made by a former employee Anthony Pompliano who also disclosed few other internal systematic failures.

As #UninstallSnapchat was trending all over the internet, amidst the social outrage people got confused between Snapchat and Snapdeal. The result of this confusion can be seen in the snapdeal's application review section on the playstore. The problem came in the light when Kunal Bahl, CEO, Snapdeal came forward on behalf of the company and tweeted "Ppl asking us to make a statement that @snapdeal is not @snapchat was possibly the last thing I thought I would ever need to do."

Surprisingly both the companies have Alibaba on their investors board.

However, Snapchat has rubbished all the claims stating no such remarks were made. “This is ridiculous. Obviously Snapchat is for everyone! It’s available worldwide to download for free.” says an official statement by Snapchat's spokesperson.

This whole scenario came at a time when Snapdeal is going through a moment of crisis as the firm is devalued from a whopping USD 6.5 billion earlier to about USD 1 billion now.
